Vedanta Aluminium casthouse will cut emissions by 62%

It has partnered with Gail Gas to ensure supply to its 430kt per year Casthouse 4 at Jharsuguda, which will be operational by the end of 2025.

The partnership will ensure supply of natural gas to fuel operations of its casthouse, which is designed to produce 250 kt per year of billet and 180 Kt per year of value-added products.

The natural gas-powered transition aims to be operational by the end of 2025, where Gail will set up a 7.5km pipeline to directly supply gas to the new facility.

The casthouse will draw around 32,000 SCM/Day of natural gas, which will drive a 62% emission reduction for the casthouse, the company said in its latest financial note earlier this week.
