Trimet Essen achieves ten millionth ton of aluminium milestone

Trimet’s Essen, Germany foundry achieved an aluminium milestone earlier today.

At casting table 216, the ten millionth ton of aluminium was cast since the foundry’s commissioning in 1971. The record batch was produced as extrusion billets and delivered to Otto Fuchs.

The company processes the material into components for the automotive industry, global aerospace sector, and for industrial applications.

Philipp Schlüter, CEO of Trimet Aluminium, said: “The ten millionth ton of aluminium demonstrates the performance of the production site and underscores the importance of a reliable supply of a strategically important material from domestic production to industry.

“This milestone represents technological expertise, sustainable site development, and the stability of long-term industrial partnerships – like the one we maintain with Otto Fuchs.”

The family business has been a Trimet customer since 1994 and is supplied with aluminium alloys in various formats by the materials specialist.

Andreas Engelhardt, personally liable partner of Otto Fuchs, said the collaboration formed an important basis for its joint competitiveness.

“Trimet is a reliable partner for our company, whose high quality standards and pronounced flexibility are of great importance, especially in an increasingly dynamic market environment.

The aluminium plant in Essen was commissioned in 1971.

With the acquisition of the aluminium smelter and the associated foundry in 1994, Trimet secured the existence of the site, which at that time employed 380 people.

The site employs approximately 850 people today and production capacity has been increased.
