World crude steel production increases 4.1% in February 2021
Global crude steel production for the 64 countries reporting to the World Steel Association was 150.2 million tonnes in February 2021, a 4.1% increase compared to February 2020.
China is estimated to have produced 83.0 Mt in February 2021, up 10.9% on February 2020. India produced 9.1 million tonnes, down 3.1%. Japan produced 7.5 million tonnes, down 5.6%. South Korea produced 5.5 million tonnes, up 1.2%.
The United States produced 6.3 million tonnes, down 10.9%. Brazil produced 2.8 million tonnes, up 3.8%.
Russia is estimated to have produced 5.7 million tonnes, down 1.3%. Turkey produced 3.0 million tonnes, up 5.9%. Germany produced 3.1 million tonnes, down 10.4%. Iran is estimated to have produced 2.3 million tonnes, up 11.5%.

Middle East – 3.2 million tonnes, down 0.9%
North America – 8.8 million tonnes, down 8.9%
South America – 3.5 million tonnes, up 2.2%
The 64 countries included account for approximately 98% of total world crude steel production in 2020.
