ANC incompetence once again! Ramaphosa punishes SA citizens for his own failure
Ramaphosa is punishing citizens for government’s failure to roll out vaccines on time, SA political parties say. The DA said every COVID death and every job loss to the restrictions announced on Sunday night will be on Ramaphosa.
In a dangerous call, the EFF is calling on its supporters to defy new lockdown regulations, until there’s a vaccination plan for the whole country.
Health experts said the tighter rules had come too late. The ANC-lead government should be held fully accountable for the death and economic destruction it has caused due to its negligence, corruption, looting and the collapse of the entire health system.
On Sunday night, the country moved to adjusted level 4 of the lockdown amid the third wave of COVID-19 infections, with more than 15,000 people having contracted the virus in the last 24-hour reporting cycle.
The Beer Association of SA (BASA), said on Sunday night it “is seeking legal advice on national government’s inexplicable decision to implement a fourth alcohol ban… in the interest of protecting jobs and livelihoods”.
“As others have pointed out, there is a vaccine against Covid-19, but not against poverty… Many more businesses will now find themselves on the brink of closure as a result of the latest 14-day ban and no financial relief being made available by government,” BASA said.
President Cyril Ramaphosa also said that South Africa’s state-owned enterprises had mostly been associated in the public eye with state capture, financial mismanagement and inefficiency, which is true.
Writing in his weekly open letter to the public, the president said that these enterprises have been struggling to meet their mandates, in addition to needing regular bailouts from the government. Ramaphosa said that his government has now made it a priority to turn these companies around, to root out corruption, to improve their governance and to enable them to play the role they should in driving economic growth and employment creation.
