Amid Trump tarrifs Novelis closes US aluminium facility
Approximately 191 people will lose their jobs when the Novelis aluminum Fairmont facility, West Virginia, closes on June 30. Workers at the site were told on April 1.
According to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) submitted to West Virginia the site will close on June 30 this year.
“This closure is permanent and will affect all employees,” it states.
Among the job positions lost include annealers, electricians, machine operators, millwrights, stamco operators and strapper/core handlers.
According to the Novelis website the facility supplies domestic and international customers with more than 435 various sheet and light gauge fin/foil products.
