HAI invests in a further recycling melting furnace at the Santana site
Hammerer Aluminium Industries invests 4.5 million euros in a third melting furnace for recycling material for the casting at the Santana site in Romania. From the beginning of 2022 the new melting furnace will ensure a significant increase in capacity. Thus, the recycling and remelting capacity of the HAI group will increase to 250,000 tons per year.
The investment in a multi-chamber furnace for recycling material becomes an important step further for the HAI group due to the high demand for aluminium lightweight construction products. „We are implementing this project quickly and will be able to provide the market with high-quality recycling material at full capacity from the beginning of 2022, as planned, and thus meet the increasing demand of our customers“, HAI CEO Rob van Gils is convinced.
For the planning and implementation of the high-technology recycling melting furnace the HAI group relies on the mechanical engineering company Hertwich Engineering GmbH from Braunau in Upper Austria. The new plant for recycling material creates an essential combination of low energy consumption and maximum metal yield. An operating principle that fits perfectly into the sustainability strategy of Hammerer Aluminium Industries.
The sustainability strategy is a core topic at Hammerer Aluminium Industries. With a lot of commitment, innovative power and high investments the HAI group pushes transformation towards a sustainable recycling economy in the aluminium sector. „Customers and investors demand a real transformation towards sustainable economic activities, both ecologically and socially. The topics CO2 emissions and recycling economy will continue to gain importance. With a recycling rate of up to 80 % our company is a pioneer in the aluminium industry. We are highly motivated to press ahead with these processes“, CEO Rob van Gils explains the significance of the investment in a further recycling melting furnace. Hammerer Aluminium Industries employs 1,800 people. The company was founded in 2007 and has its headquarters in Ranshofen in Upper Austria as well as seven further locations in Germany, Romania and Poland. The products of the HAI Group can be found in the construction sector, automotive, transport and electrical engineering as well as mechanical and plant engineering.
