Nanshan Aluminium’s $436 million Indonesia project

Nanshan Aluminium has begun plans to develop an electrolytic aluminium project.

The project will have an annual output of 250,000 tons in 2026, with an initial estimated investment amount of approximately $436.57 million over a construction period of two years.

The facility will be located in the Galang Batang Special Economic Zone on Bintan Island, Indonesia, where the company’s alumina production plant is located.

However, this location is subject to obtaining environmental and construction approval from local authorities.

Long-term, the company is also planning an additional electrolytic aluminium project with an annual output of 500,000 tons, with a view to further expand production capacity and to further develop the electrolytic aluminium related businesses.

As a downstream business for alumina, electrolytic aluminium will create a synergic effect with the company’s existing businesses.

Currently, the market demand for electrolytic aluminium is experiencing considerable growth with hiking prices.

Therefore, this project is beneficial to the company in seizing market opportunities and improving profitability.
