EU imposes duties on Chinese aluminium extrusions imports

The EU Commission has imposed temporary duties ranging 30.4% to 48% on Chinese aluminium extrusion imports. The investigation is expected to be finished by April next year, and if the duties are extended at that point they would normally be in place for five years.
The European Commission began the investigation on duties in February following a complaint by European Aluminium claiming member companies were being negatively affected by the dumping of Chinese exports of aluminium extrusions.
Industry association European Aluminium, whose initial complaint led to the investigation, reported last month that the commission was considering proposing anti-dumping tariffs of up to 48pc on Chinese extrusions, and those duties have now been provisionally applied while the investigation continues.

Products from Guangdong Haomei New Materials Co Ltd and Guangdong King Metal Light Alloy Technology Co Ltd will be hit with a 30.4% duty. Products from Press Metals International Ltd will carry a 38.2% duty. Other cooperating companies would face duties of 34.9% and material from all other companies would see charges of 48%.
