Tin jumps to $27,660/t in April amid tin mining suspension in Myanmar
LME tin price jumped from a low of $23,940 to a peak of $27,660 in mid-April on news of a tin mining suspension in Myanmar, supplying more than 7% of global tin consumption, said Jeremy Pearce, Tin Association Market Intelligence and Communications.
There still seems to be upward support although base metal prices are generally weakening coming into May, with news of a China slowdown.
Tin supply continues to recover, though with some remaining issues in Indonesia. Demand signals are mixed but unexciting.
