Indian producer modernizes of aluminium hot mill line
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM. Primetals Technologies has installed a new trimmer‑chopper unit to enhance the performance of an aluminium hot mill line in India. Following a well-executed installation and commissioning period, Primetals Technologies is pleased to announce that the customer has signed the final acceptance certificate (FAC). This milestone marks the successful formal completion of the project.
The new equipment has been integrated into the existing exit table arrangement and engineered to fit the current foundation without the need for additional modifications. This approach allowed for a faster installation within a shorter shutdown period of the hot mill line, as well as reduced capital expenditure.
Enhanced Product Quality
The modernization included the installation of a new edge trimmer and a separate chopper system. The edge trimmer consists of two moving cutter heads positioned on a fabricated base plate designed to fit the existing foundation. Each head extends across the material width within the base plate, allowing for the processing of wider materials to meet future market requirements. Off-center modification can also be achieved, through remote adjustments by the operator.
Edge Trimming and Scrap Disposal System
The chopper system, supplied separately from the trimmer blades, efficiently divides scrap during the rolling process for recycling, resulting in high quality trimmed edges. Together, these technologies enable the successful processing of wider materials.
The Primetals Technologies trimmer system is capable of trimming aluminum strips with widths ranging from 1000 to 2200mm. The maximum strip cutting speed of the trimming line is 539 meters per minute, processing aluminum alloys from series 1xxx, 2xxx, 3xxx, 5xxx, 7xxx, and 8xxx.
