Stellar secured highly prospective ‘Ringville’ tin deposit near Renison mine

An application lodged by Australian tin explorer Stellar Resources for an exploration licence adjoining the prolific Renison mine has been accepted. The company, which is developing the nearby Heemskirk project in Tasmania, has secured the highly prospective ‘Ringville’ licence adjoining Bluestone’s Renison mine—the sixth most productive tin mine globally.
Stellar says the licence covers the interpreted continuation of the Federal-Bassett Fault, which is the principal structural control on mineralisation at Renison, and other structures extending southeast from Bluestone’s mine, with historically drilling returning high grade tin mineralisation.
The new licence forms the company’s East Renison project, hosting tin as well as antimony, copper, bismuth, zinc, and lead, complementing the advanced Heemskirk project.
Managing Director Simon Taylor said the company is “delighted to have been a successful bidder for the application over the Ringville exploration licence, expanding the company’s footprint in the stable tier-1 mining jurisdiction of western Tasmania”.
Geologically, the East Renison project area is underlain by the Pine Hill Granite, which is the source of tin mineralisation at Renison. Modelling by previous licence holders indicates the granite is 500 m to 2 km below the surface, and past mapping suggests two major mineralised corridors striking northeast but wrapping into cross-cutting northwest-trending faults associated with the Federal-Bassett Fault.
The company’s application will now undergo standard permitting processes including environmental review and public exposure before being granted.
Mr Taylor reiterated that the company remains “laser focused” on the Heemskirk project and delivery of the upcoming PFS, which is targeted for completion alongside an updated Mineral Resource in the second half of 2025.
We are pleased to see Stellar’s award of the Ringville licence as the company continues to develop its nearby Heemskirk tin project. The neighbouring Renison mine produced over 11,000 tonnes of tin last year as production continues to hit record highs. ITA looks forward to further updates from Stellar on this highly prospective area.
