Anglo and Vale in talks over new iron ore mine in Brazil – too early to tell

Anglo American is in discussions with Vale to potentially jointly develop Vale’s Serpentina iron ore resource in Brazil. Nothing is confirmed at this stage and the discussions are very early in nature.

Anglo American plc is a multinational mining company with headquarters in London, England. It is the world’s largest producer of platinum, with around 40% of world output, as well as being a major producer of diamonds, copper, nickel, iron ore and metallurgical and thermal coal.

Vale S.A. is a Brazilian multinational corporation engaged in metals and mining and one of the largest logistics operators in Brazil. Vale, formerly Companhia Vale do Rio Doce, is the largest producer of iron ore and nickel in the world.
