Fives forges robotics solutions partnership

Fives has partnered with Canada’s Norda Stelo company to deliver robotics solutions to the aluminium industry. Through this partnership, Fives ECL will integrate robotic solutions into its Anode Rodding Shops (ARS).

These systems can be connected upstream and downstream with SOFIA (Smart On‑the‑Fly Inspection and Analysis), the Fives’ solution designed to characterise anode butt process parameters and improve operational quality.

Norda Stelo has more than 30 years experience in high‑precision robotic automation, with references in Canadian aluminium smelters.

It means two robotic solutions are now in Fives’ portfolio:

  • Robotic anode stub and butts cleaning to automate cleaning, eliminate manual exposure to dust and vibration, while ensuring consistent, high‑quality results.
  • Robotic skimming: a fixed‑base robotic system that enhances molten metal skimming, improving productivity and product quality while reducing operator workload and safety risks.

Fives becomes the exclusive sales representative for these robotic solutions in markets outside of Canada.

Its teams will act as the customer interface to ensure integration, deployment, and long‑term support worldwide.
