Rare Earth Minerals: Strategic Resources in Ukraine

Ukraine is widely recognized for its fertile agricultural land, extensive iron ore reserves, and industrial heritage. Less well known is its significant potential to become an important supplier of critical minerals, including rare earth elements (REEs) and other strategic raw materials essential to modern technologies and the global energy transition.

As countries seek to diversify supply chains away from concentrated sources of critical minerals, Ukraine has attracted growing interest from governments, investors, and mining companies. Its geological formations contain deposits of lithium, graphite, titanium, manganese, uranium, nickel, cobalt, and rare earth-bearing minerals that could support industries ranging from renewable energy and electric vehicles to aerospace and defense.

However, much of Ukraine’s mineral wealth remains underexplored or undeveloped.
