Metlen to invest €25 in million recycled aluminium
Metlen plans to invest nearly €25 million to expand its recycled aluminium operations in Greece. Through the investment, Metlen’s subsidiary EPALME, one of the country’s largest independent producers of recycled aluminium, will receive automated sorting, processing, and melting equipment.
This will allow the plant to handle more complex scrap streams, including post-consumer aluminium recovered from end-of-life products.
EPALME will serve as a hub for the collection, sorting, and pre-processing of scrap.
Meanwhile, Metlen’s Aluminium of Greece plant will provide the scale to turn recycled metal into high-value products.
Overall, once fully developed, the project is expected to increase total production to over 250,000 tonnes. The integrated approach aims to improve margins while reducing environmental impact compared to primary metal production.
